Our team has close to a decade’s experience of shooting architectural photography and now we can take that breadth of experience into the skies!

We are based in Blackburn, Lancashire so have great connections to Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool and the surrounding North West areas. Using the latest Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), commonly known as drones, and a variety of camera options we are capable of capturing breathtaking, high resolution  images from perspectives which traditional architectural photography can’t achieve.

We have full public liability insurance and Permission for Commercial Operations (PfCO) from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), having gone through its designated training programmes to operate drones in a commercial environment. This gives you the peace of mind that we have the required skill to operate in any environment.

Frequently asked questions

Here are a few of the questions which we usually get asked.  If there is anything else which you want to know then please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Why choose Lancashire Drone Company over other companies offering the same services?
With a B.A. (hons) in photography and ten years experience in shooting architecture photography you can be assured that we have the creative flair required to produce amazing aerial imagery. Our pilot also holds all the required Permission for Commercial Operations (PfCO) required by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) so have the competency to fly our fleet of drones with ease.
Is Lancashire Drone Company authorised to fly by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA)?
Yes, anybody who is flying drones for commercial purposes within the UK must be authorised by the CAA. Anybody found to be breaking these rules or knowingly hires somebody who isn’t CAA approved could face a fine of up to £2500 or 5 years in prison.
Does Lancashire Drone Company have full public liability insurance?
Yes, we obtain public liability insurance specific to each job, usually £5 million.  This ensures the correct level of cover is provided, should the worst ever happen.
What are the restrictions on flying drones?
Even with permission from the Civil Aviation Authority we are still heavily governed on what we can and can’t do. Below is a basic outline of the restrictions, if you need to discuss them further, please get in touch. • Maintaining a distance of 50m from people and property not in control of the pilot. • During take off and landing maintain a distance of 30m from people and property not in control of the pilot. • Permission of the landowner to take off and land. • Directly overhead or within a minimum distance of 150m from an open air assembly of over 1000 people. • Maximum height of 400ft above ground level. • Maintain visual line of sight of the UAV to a maximum distance of 500m. • During daylight hours, so that you can clearly see the SUA and take avoiding action from other air users if required. • Outside of controlled airspace. • Restrictions apply to certain areas of Central London and additional permissions to fly in these areas need to be sought from the CAA. • Restrictions and rules apply to flying near an airport and aerodrome.
